What We Do

Who We Are

Disaster Leadership Team (DLT) is committed to reducing the challenges and stress communities face in the aftermath of a natural disaster. Through direct mentorship, personalized guidance, and the sharing of proven strategies, we help local leaders navigate the complexities of disaster recovery.

Whether it’s a wildfire, tornado, flood, mudslide, or hurricane, we bring the expertise and resources needed to support community leaders in building a path to recovery and long-term resilience.

We are a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization made up of disaster recovery leaders who have personally faced the challenges of rebuilding after devastating natural disasters. From tornadoes to wildfires, floods to hurricanes, we have walked the difficult road of recovery ourselves. Now, we share our experiences to help others rebuild stronger, more resilient communities.

We’ve seen the toll that natural disasters take on communities—physically, emotionally, and economically. Without the right support, recovery can be slow, stressful, and incomplete. Our work ensures that community leaders aren’t left to figure it out alone. We empower them with the knowledge, resources, and mentorship needed to rebuild stronger and faster.

Our Goals

  • Reduce the length of recovery by equipping communities with the tools and strategies they need to rebuild efficiently.

  • Support new-to-disaster community leaders emotionally and practically as they face unprecedented challenges.

  • Share valuable disaster recovery resources, toolkits, and knowledge to make the process less overwhelming.

  • Build resilience in every community and its long-term recovery organization, ensuring readiness for future disasters.

  • Simplify and streamline the recovery process, reducing stress for local leaders navigating disaster relief efforts.
